with Shastri Christoper St. John
Thursday, April 5, 6-8 p.m.
We are delighted to continue our Dharma Talk series on the first Thursday of the month! The evening includes meditation practice, a talk, discussion, and time for visiting. Tea and snacks will be served.
On April 5, join Shastri Christopher St. John for an exploration of bravery, on the cushion and in day-to-day life. What is your relationship with bravery? Do you confidently step into the unknown or do you shy away from uncertain situations? We will explore how the simple act of meditation can bring us into the present moment and help us develop confidence in our basic goodness. When we learn to trust in our inherent worthiness, we can move beyond hope and fear. We can open to life just as it is, with equanimity and spaciousness. As we develop these qualities, we learn that we can leap into the unknown and begin to taste freedom.
Shastri Christopher St. John has been practicing, studying and teaching in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition since 1982. He has been Resident Director of Shambhala Training at the Brunswick-Portland Shambhala Center since 1995. Christopher was named Shastri (senior teacher) by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche in 2016.
Everyone is welcome.
